OUR MISSION
Oceans alive with whales and dolphins
Our mission at ORCA is to work towards the preservation and protection of orcas and their ocean habitats. We strive to educate individuals and communities on the crucial role that orcas play within our ecosystem, and the devastating effects of human activities such as pollution and climate change on their survival. We are committed to advocating for policy changes and implementing solutions that directly address these threats to ensure the long-term survival of this majestic species. We believe that by working together, we can create a brighter future for orcas and the oceans they call home.
WAYS TO HELP
Overfishing is one of the primary threats to orcas. Governments can regulate fishing practices by setting quotas on the catch of fish or establishing protected areas for specific species that orcas prey on. Orca habitats are being destroyed due to human activities such as oil exploration, shipping, and development.
Whale-watching can be a significant source of income for local economies, but it can also cause disturbance to the animals. Therefore, it is essential to regulate whale-watching activities to protect the orcas' welfare while still allowing local communities to benefit from ecotourism.
RCA populations are declining due to the accumulation of pollutants in their food chain. Therefore, it is essential to reduce pollution by supporting legislation that promotes cleaner energy sources, reducing the use of single-use plastics, and promoting recycling.
